Abstract

In these notes, I revisit and recover the memory of great Brazilian ecologists, whose legacies in favor of the Environment urgently need a historical rescue. As well as raising several issues that concern the most sensitive minds today from the point of view of ecological and biological diversity, such as the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the environmental problems of the Amazon, the dramas of the equalization of the Landscape and the concept of planned city , pointing out the wrong practices. All of these themes, which I do not intend to exhaust here, are explicitly or implicitly contemplated in this dossier that Relicário is presenting in this new issue. Finally, based on the script of readings by philosophers and thinkers that I covered over the 55 years of work in this area, I try to brush up on some texts and bibliography that are of interest to scholars of the rural and urban environment.

Author Biography

Rodolfo Geiser

Engenheiro agrônomo, ecólogo e paisagista. Formado pela "Escola Superior de Agricultura Luis de Queiroz" (ESALQ/USP) em 1963. Participou do Curso "Manejo da Paisagem e Mapeamento da Vegetação" (03 a 28 de Setembro de 1973), ministrado pelo Prof. Paul Seibert da Universidade de Munique, e do  "Waldbauinstitut, Abteilung Vegetationskunde und Landschaftspflege", sob o patrocínio do Instituto Florestal do Estado de São Paulo em Campos do Jordão, SP.  Recebeu a Medalha “Joaquim Eugenio de Lima”, outorgada em 1993, pela Associação dos Engenheiros Agrônomos do ESP (AEAESP), pelo reconhecimento aos serviços em Paisagismo e Ecologia sob o ponto de vista da Agronomia. Fundador e Diretor Presidente da SBP-Sociedade Brasileira de Paisagismo (1970-1990), entidade sem fins lucrativos, que se preocupa com a defesa da paisagem e da natureza. Trabalhou em defesa das Áreas Verdes Urbanas, nas causas do Índio, Amazônia e contra a construção do Aeroporto Metropolitano em Caucaia do Alto, Cotia, SP. Autor de vários projetos de Paisagismo. Editor convidado do Dossiê O Sagrado e o Meio Ambiente I e II desta revista.
