The photography of Baltimore:
writing, feminine and translation in Lúcia Castello Branco

We propose a reading of the book Não dervalho sobre a cidade (2016), by Lucia Castello Branco, around three questions: writing, the feminine and translation. We start from reflections on the feminine (J. Lacan, 2008, among others), passing through the articulations between feminine and writing (Castello Branco, 1991, 1994), arriving at considerations about translation (Paul B. Preciado, 2015, among others). ). As a method, we followed the proposals of “weak thinking” (Vattimo, 2004) and a discussion about the poetic power of the prefix “in”, aiming at the elaboration of an image for what we call “the photography of Baltimore”: the absent that moves the writing of the book.
