Abstract

As one of the five pillars that guide Islamic belief, Ramadan is an annual ritual practiced by every religious community. This article will raise the main aspects of the mystical experience of fasting in Ramadan, making a brief comparison with the data evidenced in research in the health area. The objective is to elucidate how the eating behavior resulting from the religious diet can generate changes in human metabolism and its relationships, whether individual or collective.
