Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present, through literature review, religious faith, especially the Christian faith as the true helper of the man before the distress, a central concept in the thought of Søren Kierkegaard. Try to understand the states of existence involving the man as an individual endowed with freedom and possibilities, which the philosopher symbolize the struggle of this being himself, can win the authentic existence. Process that goes through aesthetic and ethical stages, may enter the religious stage, fully reaching the experience of faith, peak of existence itself. In Kierkegaard is understood that Christianity is meant to free man from original sin and concomitantly provide a form of conduct, which then becomes support to the depths of their freedom. Anyway, the religious stage is one that will give true meaning to their choices, even if this does not diminish the tension and the conflict of their harrowing existence. Religiosity as life of faith will enable the individual to rest in God's providence.
