O presente trabalho traz um breve apontamento entre as relações próximas das religiões de Matriz Africana, o Candomblé e a Umbanda no contexto do fotojornalismo brasileiro na década de 1950 e 60. Desta forma, destacamos no cotidiano das representações visuais contida na reportagem produzidas na revista “Encontro” da cidade de Montes Claros/MG. Por meio de diálogos com a visualidade, as representações estudadas no trabalho apontam para uma aproximação forte entre ideias superficiais a questões antropológicas acerca dessas religiões.

Abstract The present work briefly points out the close relations between the religions of the African Matrix, Candomblé and Umbanda in the context of Brazilian photojournalism on 1950s and 60s. In this way, we highlight the everyday visual representations contained in the article produced in the journal "Meeting" of the city of Montes Claros / MG. Through dialogues with visuality, the representations studied in the work point to a strong approximation between superficial ideas and anthropological questions about these religions.
